Quick and Delicious Homemade Marinara Sauce



One of the best things about pasta with marinara sauce is its simplicity. But what about when you don’t have any sauce on hand? With this recipe, you will never need to use store-bought sauce again. The ingredients are all fresh and simple. It comes together quickly enough that you can make it and serve the same night. Or you can make extras and freeze for an easy dinner on a busy night!


This sauce is the perfect foundation for a healthy meal that the whole family will love. It's thick and flavorful and only uses the freshest ingredients. The sweetness of the tomatoes allows for no added sugar and the spices add depth to the flavor. Feel free to add crushed red pepper if you are looking for a little spice!


This is a classic marinara sauce but can easily be made into a meat sauce. Just add the meatballs when you bring to a boil and simmer them right along with the sauce. Serve this delicious sauce over your favorite pasta. Top with parmesan and basil! It's so simple you will be wondering why you ever used jarred sauce in the first place!

Quick and Delicious Marinara Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 large onions, halved and sliced thin

  • 6 garlic cloves, sliced

  • 2 Tbs extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 28 oz can San Marzano crushed tomatoes

  • 1 tbs oregano

  • 2 bay leaves

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large saucepan, heat olive oil.

  2. Add onions and sauce until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add garlic. Saute 1-2 minutes more.

  4. Add tomatoes and 3/4 can of water.

  5. Add spices

  6. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes. Check for desired consistency. If you want it thicker, leave the lid off and simmer a few more minutes.

  7. Serve over your favorite pasta with fresh-grated parmesan and fresh basil.
